His rhythm style was never just about keeping time — it was about creating space, opening doors for Jerry Garcia to soar, and turning every song into a living, breathing conversation.
Ask any musician and they’ll tell you: Bob didn’t just play rhythm — he expanded it. His chords danced around the melody, bent the groove, and made the band feel bigger than the sum of its parts. He’s stood on stage more than almost anyone in rock history, not because he had to — but because the music never stopped calling.
